Tech-savvy designers recognized for collaborative
meeting spaces
Effective Meeting Spaces Competition rewards design innovations that integrate
technology
Calgary, AB --- February 16, 2001 --- EffectiveMeetings.com,
the online magazine for better meetings, announces the winners of the second annual
Effective Meetings Spaces Competition. This competition recognizes meeting spaces
that incorporate technology to enhance group productivity. Entries were judged
on their use of technology, aesthetic appeal, innovative design and suitability
to task. Winners received award packages that included products from SMART Technologies
Inc. and WorldCom Conferencing, the official sponsors of the Effective Meeting
Spaces Competition.
Insight Research, Inc. of Atlanta, GA, took first place for its executive briefing
room in Concert (Midtown). By incorporating leading-edge presentation and videoconferencing
tools, the room provides an ideal space for group collaboration. Second place
went to Connect Center, Inc. for its meeting room in the Hilton DFW Lakes Executive
Conference Center in Dallas, TX. Third place was awarded to Midwest Visual Communications
for the Wacker Corporation's Visitor Training Center Amphitheater in Menomonee
Falls, WI.
"The entries into this year's Competition showcase high-tech, functional
meeting spaces," says Nancy Knowlton, president and COO of SMART Technologies.
"Interactive tools, connectivity and real-time access to information are
prominently featured in the winning designs."
Awards
First Place: SMART Board 580 with a Floor Stand and two PolyCom SoundPoint phones
Second Place: SMART Expression 303, a compact, mobile multimedia cabinet
Third Place: Hawkeye, an optical whiteboard capture system from SMART Technologies
